Job Purpose

  • Lead the accounting and financial activities for multiple manufacturing sites.

Primary Duties

  • Own the financial close process for assigned locations, ensuring that all deliverables are completed in accordance with the close schedule.
  • Complete monthly accounting activities and journal entries for these manufacturing locations. Complete semi-annually supplemental reporting, tax pack information, and other reporting as needed.
  • Own all required P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, including monthly submissions into Cognos.
  • Manage the overall balance sheet for the manufacturing plants, evaluating provisions, reserves, and liabilities as needed
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and the monthly forecasting process for assigned locations
  • Prepare and review additional ad hoc reporting as needed, including purchase price variance / cost-savings analysis, manufacturing KPI reporting, inventory reporting, and other reporting as required.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of capital projects at the plant locations. Coordinate with the engineering team to submit capital expenditure requests and track capital project spending on a monthly basis.
  • Partner with key stakeholders at the manufacturing site, acting as the key business partner to provide recommendations and drive business decisions
  • Oversee the completion of physical inventory verifications and fixed asset verifications on a semi-annual basis
  • Proficient in all MS Office, with strong excel skills
  • Well versed in manufacturing and general accounting knowledge. Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Coordinate with external partners, such as audit, tax, and consulting as needed.
  • Travel expectations of up to 1 week per month to the different manufacturing plan.

Secondary Duties

  • Identify and implement process improvements which will streamline/automate the financial close and reporting process for the manufacturing locations
  • Develop enhanced operations-based reporting to cross-functional partners in manufacturing

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5 years minimum experience in a financial role, with prior manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines during the monthly close process
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • 3 years minimum experience working in an ERP

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 10 years experience in a financial role, with prior manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • 5 years experience working in an ERP

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule from time to time, when necessary
  • Travel of ~10-25% to different company sites
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must possess a valid passport. If candidate does not currently have a passport, employment will be contingent on attaining a valid passport with no travel restrictions to Canada.
